Falcon Women’s Soccer Opens 2026 Season at Gustavus Adolphus

The UW-River Falls women's soccer team opens its 2026 season on Tuesday, Sept. 1, traveling to St. Peter, Minn., to take on Gustavus Adolphus. 

The Falcons enter the year following one of the program's strongest seasons in recent history. UWRF finished 2025 with a 13-5-3 overall record, going 9-2 at home and advanced to the WIAC Tournament semifinals for the second consecutive season. 

UWRF produced 39 goals while allowing just 22 across 21 matches, recording nine team shutouts. The Falcons totaled a program-record six All-WIAC First Team and Honorable Mention selections, while head coach Sean McKuras and staff were recognized as the WIAC Coaching Staff of the Year, Coach McKuras' third recognition as Head Coach.

FALCON NOTES
  • Emery Bigler returns after starting all 21 games and leading UWRF with 20 points off eight goals and four assists. She scored three game-winning goals and was a two-time WIAC Offensive Player of the Week before earning All-WIAC First Team and Fourth Team All-Region honors. 
  • Ellie Ketcher scored seven goals and added three assists for 17 points in 17 appearances last season. She scored four game-winning goals, which led the WIAC, and earned All-WIAC First Team honors for the second consecutive season. 
  • Brooke McDaniel totaled 14 points with five goals and four assists in 19 games, including two game-winners. 
  • Valerie Leonard returns after starting all 21 matches and helping anchor a Falcon defense that conceded just 22 goals. Leonard earned All-WIAC First Team and Third Team All-Region honors. Madelyn Johnson also appeared in all 21 games, totaled two assists and earned All-WIAC Honorable Mention recognition. 
  • Courtney Bain appeared in 17 games during her freshman season, compiling an 8-5-2 record with a 1.27 goals-against average and 76 saves. She earned All-WIAC Honorable Mention honors. 
  • Kiera Nelson went unbeaten at 5-0-1 across seven appearances last season. She allowed just two goals for a 0.38 goals-against average while posting an .875 save percentage.
