RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Bethel University Monday afternoon at Ramer Soccer Stadium, moving to 1-1 on the season.
The Royals opened the scoring in the 11th minute as Hannah Kvant found the back of the net to give the Royals an early 1-0 advantage.
The Falcons generated five shots during the opening half, including a pair of chances on goal.
Sarah Wagner put UWRF's first shot on target in the 10th minute, while
Gabby Faletti forced another save from Bethel goalkeeper Abby Wright late in the half. The Royals carried their 1-0 lead into halftime.
UWRF continued to add pressure on the Royal defense early in the second half.
Emery Bigler recorded three shots in a span of just over six minutes, including an attempt in the 58th minute that was saved by Wright.
Bethel extended its lead in the 64th minute as Kvant scored her second goal of the afternoon off an assist from Sydney Ebner. Six minutes later, Kvant completed the hat trick, scoring off an assist from Elisabeth Rupp to give the Royals a 3-0 advantage.
The Falcons finished the match with 10 shots, including three on goal, while Bethel totaled 14 shots with seven on target. Bigler led UWRF with four shots, with
Ellie Ketcher adding two. Wagner and
Gabby Faletti joined Bigler with shots on goal.
Kiera Nelson played all 90 minutes in net for the Falcons with four saves on the afternoon.
UW-River Falls returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 9, as they travel to Mankato, Minn., to take on Bethany Lutheran College. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
