The men's swim and dive team opened their season with a 121-110 loss to UW-Oshkosh in Albee Hall in Oshkosh Friday evening.
Lucas Hetzel (South Milwaukee, WI, South Milwaukee) paced UWRF with a first place finish in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:12.63. He also placed first in the 500 with a time of 5:26.47.
David Zaske (Maple Lake, MN, Maple Lake) also turned in a first place performance in the 200 at 1:54.57.
Freshman
Victor Lara (Sao Paulo, Brazil), making his Falcon debut, placed first in the 200 yard IM, beating the second-place opponent by a little over eight seconds. Lara also took first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.91.
Fellow freshman
Caleb Bentley (Austin, MN, Austin) also earned six points for UWRF by taking first in the one meter diving event with a score of 186.05 and in the three meter dive at 179.95.
Senior
Justin Arneson (Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Lincoln) turned in a strong performance in the 100 breaststroke by placing first with a time of 1:04.59.
In the final event of the meet, the 200 freestyle relay team of
Kevin Brian (Eau Claire, WI, Memorial),
Chris Regnier (Prescott, WI, Home Schooled), Lara and Zaske placed first, scoring 11 points with a time of 1:35.28
The Falcons will return to action Saturday as they travel to Carroll University. The meet is set to get underway at 1 p.m.
