Box Score

Brittany Gregorich recorded her first career double-double setting career highs with 19 points and 13 rebounds leading the Falcons to a victory in the WIAC opener, 66-54 over Platteville. Gregorich also had a game-high five assists in her historic day.

The Falcons defense came out sharp, limiting the Pioneers to just one field goal in the first nine minutes on one-of-11 shooting. For the fourth time this season, the Falcons have limited the opposition to less than 33-percent shooting from the field as the Pioneers hit just 29.4-percent of their shots - their worst shooting effort in the last 19 games.  The Falcons never trailed and led by as much as 20 as they cruised to their fifth consecutive win.

The Falcons went on an 11-2 run midway through the first half to go ahead by 13. Then opened the second half with an 11-0 run to go ahead 43-23. Platteville continued to chip away at the lead and cut the margin by as few as five with three minutes to play, but the Falcons pulled away making five-of-six free throws in the final sixty seconds.

Brooke Lauritzen added double-figures for the second straight game with 14 points, five rebounds, four blocks, and three steals. The four blocked shots is one shy of the school record which has been done 15 times, the most recent by Taylor House in 2008-09.

Tess Lueders had eight points and eight rebounds, while Richell Mehus put in seven points and rebounds as the Falcons owned a 45 to 31 rebounding edge.

The Karges Center continues to be one of the toughest places to play in the WIAC as the Falcons are 40-10 at home since 2008, while winning nine of their last 10.

The Falcons return home on Wednesday as they host Viterbo at 6:00 p.m. in a non-conference game.
