They would go into the locker room at halftime leading 32-25.  However, the Eagles opened the second half on an 8-0 run to be right back into the game, and it showed.  The second half was a back-and-forth contest until UWRF pulled away in the closing minutes.  Clutch free throws by Alise Holst (Plainview, MN, Plainview-Elgin-Millville), and the Gregorich sisters, Brittany Gregorich (Altoona, WI, Altoona) and Tiffany Gregorich (Altoona, WI, Altoona) sealed the victory and kept the Falcons' season alive.

Maranda Dohrn (Lake City, MN, Lake City) led the battle of the boards.  She pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds in helping the Falcons out-rebound UWL 44-34, which included 18 offensive rebounds for the Falcons.

The Falcons have now swept all three games against La Crosse this season.  The Eagles will end their season with a 16-10 record.

With the victory, the Falcons improve their record to 21-5.  Their next game is the WIAC Semifinals against the No. 1 seed, UW-Stevens Point.

Action is set to get underway at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23 at Stevens Point.  On Jan. 4 the Falcons defeated UWSP 67-63 at Stevens Point.  However, on Jan.  21, the Pointers came back to beat the Falcons 71-59 at the Karges Center.

"This time of year it's about playing another day and we're doing that," said Falcon Coach Cindy Holbrook after the game. "But we'll have to play a whole lot better at Stevens Point."
