Box Score The Falcon softball team opened its srping trip play with an 8-1 loss to Illinois Wesleyan in a game played in Orlando, Fla., at the Rebel Spring Games.
The game lasted just six innings with rain washing away the final inning of play. The team's game against Mount St. Joseph was canceled due to the rain.
IWU scored eight runs on nine hits and did not committ an error. UWRF scored one run on three hits and made one error. Illinois Wesleyan scored three runs in the first, one in the third and two runs in the fourth and sixth innings. The Falcons got their run in the sixth.
Patti Olson led off the sixth with a walk and
Katie Zais pinch ran for her. She went to second on a passed ball and then went to third on a fly out.
Ashley Goettl then singled to short and Zais scored on the play.
Goettl, Buchanan and Lily Buckely each had one hit. Buckley sinlged in the third and Buchanan singled in the fourth.
Rose Tusa started on the mound for the Falcons and took the loss. She is now 2-2. She worked three innings and allowed five hits. She allowed four earned runs. She walked two and struck out four.
Jamie Klein worked the last three innings and allowed four hits. She allowed four runs, three were earned. She struck out two and walked three.
The Falcons, now 2-3 overall, will next play Austin College at 9 a.m., and Millikin University at 1 p.m., on Monday in Florida.
