Women's Hockey Wins 4-0 Over SNC

The UW-River Falls Falcons won 4-0 over the St. Norbert College Green Nights this afternoon. The Falcons only allowed eight total shots on net and goalie Gillian McDonald recorded her second shutout of the season.

UWRF dominated all aspects of the game having 44 shots on goal compared to eight for SNC, only recording one penalty compared to seven for SNC and scoring four goals while shutting out the Green Nights.

Coach Joe Cranston talked about the defense of play saying , "We played better defensively today giving up only 8 shots all game.  It was a huge four points to stay in first place in the conference!" 

Alice Cranston scored her second goal of the season at 10:25 of the first period to score the Falcons first goal. Kendal Evenson and Kait Mason each recorded an assist on the play.

UWRF's leading scorer Chloe Kinsel was the next Falcon to score at 11:57 of the second period when Amanda Ryder found her with the pass. Evenson also was credited with an assist on the play for her second of the game. She now has three assists on the season.

In the second period UWRF only allowed one shot on goal.

SNC goalie Kaley Gibson recorded 18 saves in the second period only allowing the one second period goal and had 40 total saves in the game.

Crysta Lowell scored the loan power play goal of the game for her third goal of the season at 14:41 of the third period. She was assisted by Sam Greeley and Kinsel.

Katie Batters scored on her eight goal of the season for the final goal of the game. Brook Story and Ryder got the assists on the goal. With Story and Ryder each having an assist on the play the Falcons now has nine players with ten or more points overall on the season.

UWRF moves to 9-4-2 on the season after the win and SNC drops to 5-8-2 overall.

The Falcons will travel to Bethel University on Wednesday with the puck set to drop at 7 p.m.
