Women's Basketball UWRF Sports Information

Women's Basketball Edges Platteville, 61-60

The women's basketball team used a balanced attack to edge out UW-Platteville 61-60 in a WIAC match-up at Bo Ryan Court in Platteville.

The Falcons had three scorers reach double figures and got 11 points from their bench to help the Falcons win their second straight contest and second straight thriller. UWRF edged out Stout in OT on Jan. 23.

Brittany Gregorich (Altoona, WI, Altoona) led the Falcons with her fifth double-double of the season. She had 17 points to go along with 10 rebounds, both of which led the Falcon effort.

Richell Mehus (Spring Grove, MN, Spring Grove) was not far behind as she added 14 points and eight rebounds in the winning effort.  Nikki Guhr (Muskego, WI, Muskego) added 10 points to round out the top scorers.

Platteville led by as many as nine, including a four-point lead at halftime, but the Falcons were just a bit sharper shooting to help them put away the Pioneers and improve to 11-9 overall.

As a team UWRF shot an even 40 percent while UWP shot 37.7.

With the win the Falcons are now 11-9 overall and 5-6 in the WIAC.  Platteville meanwhile drops to 5-15 and 1-10 in conference play.

UWRF sweeps the regular season meetings between the two schools.  On Dec. 1 UWRF was victorious in a 66-54 decision at the Karges Center.

Up next for the Falcons is parents/senior night as the Falcons host UW-Eau Claire at the Karges Center.  Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2.

The Blugolds defeated the Falcons 42-38 on Jan. 12 in Eau Claire.
