Volleyball Team Splits at UWEC Tourney

The Falcon volleyball team finished 2-2 at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational held Friday and Saturday.

On Friday the Falcons opened with a 3-0 win over St. Scholastica, but then lost to No. 3 ranked St. Thomas, 3-0. On Saturday the Falcons lost to UW-Stevens Point, 3-0, but rebounded to take a 3-0 win over UM-Morris.

The Falcons, now 13-9 overall, will play at the Loras College Tournament next weekend. On Friday the Falcons play Luther at 4 p.m., and Loras at 6 p.m.

River Falls 3, St. Scholastica 0
The Falcons beat the Saints, 25-20, 25-18 and 25-22 in the first match of the day. Jean Theis and #Briann1 Muetzel led the Falcon offense with 11 and 10 kills respectively. The Falcons hit a solid .226 in the match. UWRF had six aces led by Muetzel who had three. Hali Tasler# (15) and Lexi Pingel (11) led the Falcons in digs. UWRF had a great blocking match finishing with five solo and eight block assists. Theis led UWRF with two solo and three assists. Raven Kline led the team with 29 assists.

St. Thomas 3, River Falls 0 

St. Thomas beat the Falcons, 25-16, 25-20, 25-21 in UWRF's second match of the day. The Tommies showed why they are the No. 3 ranked team in the country withi the three-set win. Theis led the team with nine kills and she hit .444 in the match. Kline and Pingle had two aces and Kline led the team with 22 assists. Muetzel had 11 digs to lead UWRF and Rebecca Gasper was the top blocker with two solos and three assists.

Stevens Point 3, River Falls 0
A couple of weeks ago the Falcons and Pointers played a marathon match in River Falls that UWRF won, 3-2. Saturday the Pointers made quick work with a 25-5, 25-19, 25-15 win. Theis led the Falcon offense again with 11 kills and she hit .435. Muetzel (15) and Tasler (12) led the Falcons in digs. Tayler Fertig and Nicole Mehr each had two block assists. Kline led the team with 17 assists.

River Falls 3, UM-Morris 0
The Falcons rebounded with a solid match against UMM. Keppers and Gasper each had eight kills to lead the Falcons, Three Falcons had double digits in digs - Pingel (16), Tasler (15) and Muetzel (13). Theis had one solo block and four block assists. The Falcons finished with two solo blocks and 14 assists. Tasler led the Falcons with three aces and UWRF finished with nine. Kline had 14 assists and Alyssa Anderson 13. The Falcons won, 27-25, 25-23, 25-11.
