Box Score

The Falcon football team came us with a solid effort, but it wasn't enough in a 13-6 loss at UW-Eau Claire on Saturday afternoon.

"Our defense played very well in some critical situations to give us a chance to win," said Falcon Coach Matt Walker after the game. "But we could not take advantage of the chances. We continue a trend of moving the ball on offense, but with no points to show for it. We have to figure out our scoring zone issues. I'm proud of our fight and feel for our seniors as we work through these tough times."

UWEC took a 6-0 lead into halftime. The points came on a Clint Larson 2-yard run with just 22 seconds to play in the first half. The extra point kick attempt failed. The Blugolds drove 80 yards in 12 plays.

The Falcons tied the game with 9:21 to go in the final quarter when Emmanuel Udeh scored on a 7-yard run. It was his first touchdown run of the season. Here the call by WRFW's Chris Liermann. The Falcon extra point attempt also failed to leave the game tied. UWRF drove 76 yards in seven plays and took just 1:44 off the clock to score. The Falcons had four pass completions in the drive. Quarterback Ryan Kusilek connected with Robbie Flom for 11 yards and 25, 22 and 11 yards to Jake Ryan in the drive.

Eau Claire took the ensuing kick off and drove to the winning score. Once again it was Larson crossing the goal line on a 1-yard run with 5:42 to play in the game. He carried the ball five times for 24 yards in the drive. The Falcon defense held UWEC on a third-and-five play at the UWRF 41 about halfway through the drive. But UWRF was called for an illigal use of hands penalty that gave the Blugolds an automatic first down.

UWRF took the ensuing kick off and drove to the UWEC 30. But four incomplete passes killed the drive.

The Falcon defense held UWEC to a three-and-out series and took over with 2:43 to play and their 16 yard line. UWRF drove to the UWEC 45 before a fourth down pass fell incompleted.

Kusilek finished 20-45 passing for 303 yards. Ryan caught eight passes for 113 yards and Flom caught four for 94 yards. Udeh picked up 46 rushing yards to lead UWRF.

Zach Loos and Cole Sirek each had eight solo and nine total tackles to lead the Falcon defense. Andy Lundgren broke up two passes and Isaac Neumann recovered one fumble.

The Falcons, now 0-7 overall and 0-4 in the WIAC, will next play another WIAC game at UW-La Crosse on Saturday with kick off set for 1 p.m.
