Volleyball Team Loses to No. 17 Ranked Whitewater

Warhawks Win in Three Sets

The Falcon volleyball team lost a WIAC match to No. 17 ranked UW-Whitewater on Saturday afternoon at the Karges Center.

UWW won in three sets, 25-14, 25-13, 25-12. 

In the first set, with UWW leading, 3-2, the Warhawks scored nine straight points to take control. With Whitewater leading, 7-3, in the second set, UWW scored five straight points to take the advantage. UWW had a couple of times in the third set when they scored four straight points to win the set and match.

Lisa Keppers and Brianna Muetzel led UWRF with five kills each. Alyssa Anderson paced the Falcons with 15 assists. Jean Theis, who had three kills, had four block assists to lead UWRF. Lexi Pingel had 11 digs while Muetzel and Hali Tasler each had nine. The Falcons hit -.021 in the match.

UWW, now 18-5 overall and 3-1 in the WIAC, was led by Kristen Ruchti who had 10 kills and three block assists.

The Falcons, now 11-7 overall and 2-3 in the WIAC, will next play in the UW-Eau Claire Tournament on Friday and Saturday. On Friday the Falcons face St. Scholastica at 3 p.m., and nationally ranked St. Thomas at 5 p.m.
