Box Score The UW-River Falls Women's hockey team fell in overtime 5-4 at UW-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon.
The first period was a shaky one for UWRF. Stevens Point scored only 40 seconds into the game and again just over halfway in at 10:36 into the first period.
Meaghan Wenner started in goal for the Falcons and recorded five saves in the first period.
The second period heated up as four goals were scored between the two teams.
Karleigh Wolkerstorfer lit the lamp 5:18 into the second period off of the
Brook Story assist.
Kait Mason scored the only power play goal of the game at 14:03 of the second period. She was assisted by
Paige Johnson who now has a team high five assists on the season.
UWSP took the lead back at 17:23 and the Falcons again tied it up to go into the third period when
Leah Gefroh connected with
Sam Greeley at 18:24 of the second period. The goal was Greeley's first of the season.
Ashley Kuechle played goalie from the second period on for UWRF recording 19 total saves.
UWRF took their first lead of the game when Wolkerstorfer scored her second goal of the game at 6:10 into the third period. Wolkerstorfer has a team high five goals on the season and was assisted again by Story who has four assists and is tied with
Katie Batters for a team high six points this season.

Just over two minutes later UWSP bounced back to tie the game. Neither team would re gain the lead in the third period sending the game into overtime.
It only took UWSP nine seconds to score the game winning goal in overtime. For the second straight night the Falcons had more shots on goal than the Pointers with 37 compared to 29 for UWSP. Both games this weekend went down to the wire but the Pointers took the sweep and improve to 5-0-1 overall on the early season. UWRF drops to 2-3 on the season.
The Falcons will play again next weekend in a weekend series against UW-Eau Claire. They will be at UEWC Friday evening with the puck set to drop at 7 p.m.
