Box Score The Falcon women's basketball team won its second straight game, and third of the last four, with a 73-55 win at Viterbo University in La Crosse on Saturday afternoon.
The first half started with the Falcons taking the lead with a layup by
Hannah Pignato with 19:44 left to play. The game was close for the next few minutes before the Falcons went on a 10-0 run making the score 17-7, with 12:40 left to play. Pignato and
Richell Mehus scored on lay ups and
Kristi Elles and
Courtney Kanipes hit three-pointers during the run. The Falcons held the lead at the end of the half 31-27.
The Falcons led the entire second half and had their biggest lead, 29 points, 62-33, with 9:49 to play when
Josie Hayes scored on a lay up.
Pignato led the Falcons in scoring with 17 points, a career high. She also had five rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
Kristi Elles also had a career high 12 points. She had two rebounds. Another career high in points was
Mikaela Wilson who had 10.
Overall the Falcons went 26-61 (.426) in the paint. For three pointers they went 11-30 (.367), and went 10-16 (.625) from the line.The Falcons had a 42-31 advantage in rebounds led by Mehus who had eight.
For Viterbo, Jenna Engh led in scoring with 21 points, and had five assists. Ally Ostrander also put up points in the double digits with 12.
The Falcons return to the court on Dec. 29 at 3 p.m., when they host the College of St. Scholastica at the Karges Center.
