Krause Pitches Complete Game Win, Softball Splits with Eau Claire

The UW-River Falls Falcons split the double header against the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds this evening at Bollinger Fields in Eau Claire, Wis.

Andrea Krause pitched the seven inning complete game to win the second game of the double header 4-3.  Brooke Lauritzen hit a two run home run in the fourth inning to give UWRF the lead and they never trailed again.

UWEC falls to 20-4 overall and 8-2 in the WIAC, while UWRF moves to 20-12 overall and 5-7 in the WIAC this season.

Eau Claire 12, River Falls 4 (5 innings)
UWEC scored runs in all five innings played in the first game to give the Falcons their second five inning loss of the season. 

Hayley Buchanan homered to left field in the first inning for her seventh of the year. She went 1-1 with an RBI in the game. The Blugolds answered with three first inning runs including a double that brought in two runs by Nikki Brooks who finished the game with five total RBIs.

The Falcons had a strong second inning putting three runs on the board. Amber O'Connell hit a RBI-double in the second inning and finished the game 2-2 with a run and a RBI.

UWEC scored a run in the third inning, two in the fourth and five in the fifth to finish the game with the 12-4 victory.

 Lauritzen started on the mound for UWRF pitching 3.0 innings. She allowed 10 hits and four earned runs. She is now 8-5 on the season. Lauren Janssen worked 1.1 innings on the mound for the Falcons allowing six hits and five earned runs.

The Falcons finished the game with five hits.

 River Falls 4, Eau Claire 3
The Blugolds jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning of play. After neither team scored in the second inning the Falcons tied the game up in the third when O'Connell hit a two run RBI-double.

Lauritzen helped add two more runs when she homered to left field in the fourth inning. UWEC pulled within one when they scored a run of their own in the bottom of the fourth.

 Krause started on mound for the Falcons allowing 10 hits and two earned runs. She struck out one batter and walked two.  She is now 3-0 on the season.

UWRF finished the game with five hits. Buchanan led the team with two hits.

UWRF will play again Sunday at home in a double header against UW-Superior. The first pitch is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. This will be the team's first home game played at Ramer Field all season.
