The Falcon volleyball team won its eighth straight match with a 3-1 win at St. Catherine on Wednesday night.

The Falcons took the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-14. The third set was a marathon with SCU finally winning, 29-27. The Falcons closed out the match with a 25-16 win. This is the second time in the last four days the two teams have played. They met in the final match of the Hamline Tourney and the Falcons also won that one, 3-1. UWRF is now 2-0 in four-set matches.

Brianna Muetzel led the Falcon offensive attack with 15 kills. Jean Theis (11) and Hali Tasler (10) also had strong hitting games. The Falcons hit .196 in the match. Tasler and Muetzel led five Falcons who finished in double digits in digs - both had 18. Raven Kline finished with 12 and Lexi Pingel and Michaela Piechowski eah had 11. UWRF had five total blocks in the match and Theis led the way with five block assists.

Kline led the Falcons with 47 assists and Pingel and Theis led the team with three aces each.

The Falcons, 8-1 overall, will compete in the Gustavus Adolphus Tournament this weekend. On Friday the Falcons face the host school at 3 p.m., and Simpson College at 7 p.m. On Saturday the Falcons play Central College at 9 a.m., and Augsburg College at 11 a.m.
