Football Team Battles No. 2 St. Thomas in 25-7 Loss - Video Added

The UW-River Falls Falcon football team battled the No. 2 ranked St. Thomas Tommies this evening. They fell 25-7 in the game with the Jordan Christianson having the lone touchdown for the Falcons.

The Tommies scored early in the game and faked the extra point to give themselves a 8-0 lead. Early into the second quarter the Tommies would strike again and took a 15-0 lead.

The Tommies tried the same play they used on their fake extra point to go for a fake field goal and did not convert. The Falcons would march down and on a key third and one they converted a big play action 26 yard pass completion from Ryan Kusilek to Jay Ekman. Two plays later Kusilek threw a pass to the corner of the end zone to Christianson for the touchdown. Kusilek finished the game 14-35 passing with 172 yards and a touchdown. He also had 52 yards rushing in the game. Christianson finished the game with five catches for 54 yards and a touchdown. Outside of Kusilek UWRF struggled to get any kind of running game going.

After some defensive stops in the third quarter the UWRF offense could not strike and the Tommies scored a touchdown in the third and a field goal at the end of the game to win 25-7. Zach Loos had a big game on defense with eight tackles and a forced fumble. Tyler Ledbeter had seven total tackles in the game and Andy Lundgren had six including some big hits in the game.

The Falcons now fall to 0-2 on the season. They will play again next Saturday at Simpson College with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
