Women's Basketball Takes Tough 89-57 Loss at Oshkosh

The UW-River Falls Falcons dropped a tough 89-57 loss to the now 14-1 UW-Oshkosh Titans this afternoon.

The start of the game was back and forth and competitive between the two teams. Kate Theisen had a strong start helping keep the Falcons in the game and only down by four six minutes into the game. Theisen finished with her career high in points with 11 on 4-6 shooting from the field and 3-4 shooting from the charity stripe.

Great shooting from Taylor Schmidt helped the Titans go on a run and never look back the rest of the game. Schmidt finished with a game high 21 points on 7-9 shooting from the field including going 4-5 from behind the arc and went 3-3 from the line. Sarah Stecker also had an impressive game scoring 19 points and went a perfect 7-7 from the line.

The Titans ended the first half on a buzzer beater three pointer to give them a 56-30 lead going into halftime.

UWRF started the second half in a slump as well not scoring for nearly five minutes. Tess Lueders scored on a couple plays off the bench and provided a nice spark all day scoring 11 points on 5-10 shooting.

UWRF finished the game 20-42 from the field and 14-21 from the free throw line. They got out rebounded 25-18 by the Titans.
Josie Hayes led the team with five rebounds and also added seven points off the bench. Freshman Cassy Saxton also saw a lot of time off the bench and scored eight points.

UWRF falls to 4-10 on the season and 3-3 in the WIAC. They will take the week off from games and play again next Saturday at home against UW-Stevens Point with tip off set for 3 p.m.
