Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (uwrfsports.com) – The University of Wisconsin-River Falls women's basketball team continues its success with a 52-44 win over Iowa Wesleyan at the Land of Magic Classic in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The Tigers got the first points on the board and maintained the lead through the first quarter leading 17-8.
The Falcons took the second quarter in their hands scoring 19 points and taking over the lead.
Cassy Saxton got the ball rolling scoring the first points for the Falcons in their second half run. The Falcons led going into the half 27-20.
In the third quarter,
Richell Mehus got it started increasing the Falcons lead to nine points. The Tigers would battle and get within four points but the Falcons would hold them off and win the third quarter 36-30.
The Falcon lead was maintained through the fourth quarter.
Hannah Pignato scored five points to start the quarter out. The Falcons again wedged a nine point lead between them and the Tigers. The game ended with the Falcons leading 52-44.
Richell Mehus led the Falcons in scoring with 20 points.
Taylor Karge had double digit scoring putting up 10 points. The Falcons shot a 37 percent and were 65 percent from the line.
The Falcons are now 9-1 on the season and return to action on Wednesday to take on Messiah at the Land of Magic Classic. Game time is at 11 a.m. eastern time.
