Box Score RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team continued its dominating season as they defeated UW-Eau Claire 71-62 in a WIAC conference game at Karges Center Saturday afternoon.
For the second game in a row, the Falcons led the game from start to finish. At the half they were up by 14 points leading 37-23. The Blugolds fought back in the third period going on an 11 point run to get within three points of the Falcons. The surge would not last long as the Falcons quickly pulled away and continued their lead till the end.
The game's leading scorer was
Brynn Liljander with 21 points. Two other Falcons saw double digit points,
Taylor Karge with 17 points and
Katie Messman with 13.
Richell Mehus was the leading rebounder for the Falcons with seven rebounds. The Falcons were 22-28 and shot 78.6 percent from the line.
The Falcons now 13-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference take lone possession of the lead in the WIAC standings. They will travel to UW-Stevens Point Wednesday evening to take on the Pointers. The Pointers who are 12-3 on the season and 3-1 in WIAC play are currently ranked 14
th in the D3hoop.com poll. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
