Track Teams Compete at The Showcase

St.Paul, MN. (uwrfsports.com) The UW-River Falls men's and women's track and field teams spent Friday evening in St. Paul competing at the Showcase, hosted by the University of St. Thomas. Amidst a large field of Division I, II, and III athletes in all events, the Falcons turned in multiple season-bests,
 WIAC qualifying marks, and personal records.

What Happened: In the Field
  • Callista Hobbs threw a personal record in the weight throw for a mark of 11.78m
  • Joe Swanson threw a personal record of 14.41m in the weight throw, a .3m improvement. This ranks him 26th in the WIAC.
  • Alanna Grant premiered in the high jump, posting a height of 1.38m.
  • Brady Balts established a personal record of 10.75m in the triple jump.

What Happened: On the Track
  • The men's 4x200m relay team of Hockbein, Kasper, Lain, and Falkowski premiered this weekend posting an impressive time of 1:33.29 to place 2nd overall, ranking 9th on the UWRF All-Time Performance List.
  • Mitchell Lorenz premiered in the 600m dash with a time of 1:31.18.
  • Reid Schwechler ran a season best in the mile with a time of 4:53.96.
  • Emmy Farago ran the first mile of her collegiate career with a strong 5:29.31.
  • Braydon Johnson ran a 7-second personal record in the 5k with a time of 15:47.52 ranking him 19th in the WIAC.
  • Linsey Tolkkinen ran a 12-second, indoor personal best in the 5k with a time of 18:07.26, ranking her 4th in the WIAC, and 5th on the UWRF All-Time Performance List.
  • Connor Johnson ran a collegiate personal record in the mile run with a time of 4:57.30.
  • Allison Stewart ran a personal record in the 200m dash for a time of 27.67 and was only a hair shy of a personal record in the 60m dash with a time of 8.29.
  • Jean Lain premiered in the 600m dash with a time of 1:26.76.
  • Adam Kasper ran a 1:58.78 in the 800m run for an indoor personal best, placing 8th overall and ranking him 12th in the WIAC.
  • Mitchell Hockbein ran a 7.49 in the 60m dash, only .05 seconds shy of his personal record.
  • Nikki Jurik ran a season best in the mile with a time of 5:21.85, ranking her 17th in the WIAC.
  • Adyara Hanaman returned to the track after injury to sprint an impressive 27.87 in the 200m dash, only .2 seconds from her personal record. She was also .02 seconds from a personal record in the 60m dash, posting an 8.29.
  • Leo Pittsley sprinted to a personal record in the 60m dash with a time of 8.00.
  • Hogan Kernstock premiered his 200m dash this season with a time of 24.75.
  • Kimberly Carlson premiered in the 600m with a time of 1:52.45.
  • Riley Jacobson established a new personal record in the 200m dash with a time of 25.38 and a personal record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.67.
  • Katelyn Moore fought through injury to run 2:24.23 in the 800m run, nearly tying her personal record.
  • Emily Klatt premiered her indoor 800m race for a time of 2:27.23.
  • Alan Falkowski premiered in the 400m dash with a time of 54.05 to place 14th overall.
 
Looking Ahead:
 
Next weekend the teams will split at the University of Minnesota with the men competing on Friday February 16th at the Snowshoe Invitational and the women will compete on Saturday February 17th at the Parent's Day Open.
