Minneapolis, MN – (uwrfsports.com) - This weekend the men's and women's track and field teams split at the University of Minnesota on Friday and Saturday, respectively. This was the last regular season meet and it boasted great results between both teams with multiple season bests, personal records, and performances that qualified individuals to the WIAC Championship meet.
In the Field:
- Colton Sorensen soared to a season best in the pole vault, taking 2nd overall with a height of 4.75m and is now ranked 7th in the WIAC.
- Abby Bakken placed 4th in the shot put with a throw of 10.91m. She is currently ranked 16th in the WIAC.
- Haley Macklem posted a 1.50m in the high jump, just 1 inch shy of her personal record and jumped a 9.56m in the triple jump, only .25 inches away from her personal record.
- Tim Rixmann posted a 12.24m for a new personal record in the triple jump.
- Alanna Grant jumped to a new personal record in the high jump with a height of 1.40m.
- Jake Martin threw two personal records in the shot put and weight throw for the distance of 10.13m and 7.81m, respectively.
- Marley Malkow threw a new personal record in the shot put with a distance of 10.18m.
- Callista Hobbs established a new personal record in the weight throw with a distance of 12.16m.
- Leo Pittsely tied his personal record in the long jump with a distance of 5.23m.
On the Track:
- Kyle Dorosz sprinted to a personal record in the 60m dash with a 7.04 to place 7th overall, be #2 on the UWRF All-Time Performance list, and is now ranked 7th in the WIAC.
- Katelyn Moore ran a 15-second personal record in the mile with a time of 5:11.13 to take 1st place overall. This ranks her 7th in the WIAC and 6th on the UWRF All-Time Performance list.
- Mitchell Hockbein ran a personal record in the 60m dash, posting a time of 7.42
- Alan Falkowski ran a 7.49 in the 60m dash to establish a new personal record.
- Alanna Grant ran a season best in the 400m dash with a time of 1:06.79, only 1.6 seconds from her personal record.
- Hogan Kernstock got a well-deserved personal record in the 60m dash with a 7.53.
- Nikki Jurik ran a season best in the mile with a time of 5:18.02 to take 3rd overall, ranking her 13th in the WIAC.
- Leo Pittsley established a new personal record in the 60m dash with a time of 7.87 and tied his personal record in the 200m dash with a time of 25.29.
- Adyara Hanaman ran a redemption 60m dash after battling injury to establish a new personal record of 8.26.
- Kimberly Carlson ran a season best in the 800m run with a time of 2:39.36.
- Jean Lain ran a 6-second personal record in the 800m run for a 2:03.57, a 14-second improvement over the course of the indoor season.
- Emily Klatt ran a season best in the mile with the time of 5:28.52 to place 6th overall.
- Allison Stewart sprinted to a personal record in the 60m dash for a time of 8.19, ranking her 9th on the UWRF All-Time Performance list,
- Connor Johnson ran a 5-second collegiate personal record in the mile after training through injury for a 4:52.51.
- Emma Deutsch ran a 4-second collegiate personal record in the 800m run, posting a time of 2:36.76.
- Adam Jacobi premiered his mile after a long bout of sickness to run a 4:59.14.
- Kimberly Robertson posted a personal record in the 60m dash with a time of 8.51.
- Mitchell Lorenz premiered his mile race to run a 5:11.56.
- Braydon Johnson ran a 6-second season best in the 3000m run for a time of 9:04.00.
- Emmy Farago ran a 5-second collegiate personal record in the mile, posting a 5:24.77 to place 5th overall.
LOOKING AHEAD
The men's and women's track teams will travel to Steven's Point, Wisconsin to compete at the WIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships next weekend on February 23th and 24th. In order to compete, an athlete must be ranked in the top-24 individuals in the conference (excluding relays)
and an All-Conference honor is awarded to an athlete if they place in the top 8 of their respective event.
