EAU CLAIRE, Wisconsin – In a top five matchup, it was the higher ranked team that came out ahead Saturday afternoon at Hobbs Center. The No. 4 Falcons fell to the No. 3 Blugolds 0-2.
It took twenty-two and a half minutes before the first goal was scored. The Blugolds had a power play opportunity in the first period when
Allisen Carothers was called for slashing. The Falcon defense stayed on the attack killing the opportunity and keeping the Blugolds from scoring.
Emma Peterson scored both goals for the Blugolds. Her first came at 2:28 in the second period. She sealed the Blugold win with the second goal, an empty netter, in the final minute of the game at 19:23.
The Falcons had one power play opportunity in the third period, but were unable to capitalize. They outshot the Blugolds 23 to 22. Leading the offense was
Holly Eckers and
Alyson Niebur each with three shots on goal.
Sami Miller took her first loss of the season, allowing one and collecting 20 saves.
The Falcons, who are now 7-1 on the season, host St. Olaf College November 23, at Hunt Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:05 pm.
