WINONA, Minnesota – The No. 4 UW-River Falls women's hockey team picked up their fourth win of the season with a 7-0 shutout against St. Mary's University Saturday afternoon.
Bailey Olson got the Falcons on the board first with a goal at the six-minute mark.
Reilly Springman followed it up with another goal six minutes later scoring on a pass from
Brooke Walters and
Aubrey Nelvin.
Kora Torkelson scored at 13:49 in the first period to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead. Torkelson with the help of
Callie Hoff turned around and assisted
Alex Hantge on her 19-minute goal. The Falcons went into the first period break with a comfortable 4-0 lead.
Three seconds into the power play opportunity in the second period Torkelson scored her second goal of the afternoon giving the Falcons a 5-0 lead.
Ellie Brice followed up the goal with her own at 5:42. Assisting her was
Brooke Walters and
Jessica Rubenalt.
Bailey Olson scored the seventh and final for the Falcons at 16:16 in the second period.
Maddie McCollins and
Abigail Stow assisted on the goal.
The Falcons outshot the Cardinals 51-15.
Kora Torkelson had eight shots on goal that included her two goals.
Alex Hantge and
Ellie Brice each had six shots on goal with both scoring a goal each.
Sami Miller took the win in goal making 15 saves in her 60 minutes of play. Cardinal goaltender Ary Ziakas took the loss giving up four goals in her twenty minutes of play. She collected 16 saves. Jordan Keeley saw forty minutes of play and had 28 saves.
The Falcons travel to UW-Stevens Point for their first WIAC conference game of the season Friday November 12. Puck drop is 7 p.m. in Stevens Point.
