No. 4 Women's Hockey set for three road games

RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The No. 4-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey returns to action this week with three games on the road, facing the College of St. Scholastica on Wednesday prior to a weekend WIAC series at Northland College.

FALCON NOTES
  • The Falcons are ranked fourth nationally for the third consecutive week after three weeks prior ranked at No. 5 in the USCHO Division III women's hockey poll.
  • UWRF's WIAC series against UW-Superior was canceled last week due to WIAC/COVID-19 protocols. 
    • The Falcons and Yellowjackets have added a non-conference game on Feb. 4 in Superior, Wis. The two team's will then meet the following night at 7 p.m. in River Falls.
  • The Falcons most recently swept a weekend series against UW-Stevens Point Jan. 15-16 at Hunt Arena, defeating the Pointers by scores of 3-2 and 5-0. 
    • Callie Hoff scored four goals on the weekend and reached 84 career goals to tie the UW-River Falls women's hockey all-time goal-scoring record, tying her former teammate Carly Moran (2014-18).
  • Among the nation's DIII leaders, Callie Hoff (1.42) and Abigail Stow (1.31) rank first and second in assists per game, respectively. Hoff is the DIII leader with 2.5 points per game, and ranks second with 30 total points off 13 goals and 17 assists.
  • As a team, UWRF's 74 goals and 3.47 scoring margin each rank fourth nationally and lead the WIAC.
  • The Falcons' special teams are among the nation's best, leading the WIAC with a .271 power-play percentage (14th/DIII) while leading the nation with eight shorthanded goals.
  • Defensively, the Falcons' 1.47 goals against per game is second-best in the WIAC while goaltenders Sami Miller, Pistol Cowden, and Jordan O'Connor have combined for a .922 save percentage.
