DULUTH, Minn. – The No. 4-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team earned an 8-2 non-conference win at the College of St. Scholastica Wednesday evening.
UWRF improves to 15-1 overall with its eighth consecutive win while
Callie Hoff became the Falcon women's hockey all-time goal scoring leader with her 85
th career goal, passing her former teammate Carly Moran (2014-18).
After the Falcons and Saints traded a pair of goals in the first period, UWRF's offense broke open for a trio of goals in each the second and third period for six-goal margin of victory. It marked the second time this season in which the Falcons recorded eight goals, also scoring eight against Northland on Nov. 13.
Eight different Falcons found the back of the net, including Hoff's record-breaking goal in the first period. She also tied a career-high with four assists, the third time in her career.
Aubrey Nelvin opened the game's scoring just three minutes into the night with her first goal of the season.
After CSS knotted the score at 2-2 heading into the second period, UWRF scored three power play goals in the middle frame from
Abigail Stow,
Emma Schmitz, and
Kora Torkelson.
Maddie McCollins,
Ellie Brice, and
Challis Prohaska got into the scoring column in the third period.
Hoff, Torkelson,
Alex Hantge, and
Reilly Springman all had multi-point games.
UWRF out-shot the Saints 51-15, and
Sami Miller received the win in net while logging 13 saves, improving her record to 7-1 on the season.
The Falcons head back into their WIAC schedule this weekend on the road, facing Northland College Friday-Saturday in Ashland, Wis.
