Falcons score school-record 14 goals at Northland

ASHLAND, Wis. – The No. 4-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team scored a UWRF women's hockey program record 14 goals during a 14-0 win Friday evening at Northland College.

UWRF improves to 16-1 overall and 4-1 in the WIAC, potting a record-breaking 14 goals off 90 shots on goal. Nine different Falcons lit the lamp, compiling 34 points as a team. Alex Hantge and Emma Schmitz led the offense, both recording their first career hat-tricks.

A pair of Falcon goals came on the power play, and one shorthanded, adding to UWRF's NCAA Division III lead with the team's ninth shorthanded tally of the season.

UWRF scored three goals in the first, six in the second, and five in the third period, leading to the program-record 14 goals. The Falcons' 14 goals breaks the previous team single-game scoring record of 13, set twice last year against Northland and in 2013 against Marian.

Behind Hantge and Schmitz' hat-tricks, Alyson Niebur scored twice, and Abigail Stow, Kiana Gilbraith, Callie Hoff, Jessica Rubenalt, Hadley Malcolmson, and Brooke Lemke all found the back of the net. Lemke's was her first as a Falcon.

Erin Olson logged a career-high five assists, while Stow had three assists. Sophia Leong and Rubenalt shared the team-high with nine shots on goal.

Jordan O'Connor started in net and earned the win to improve her record to 5-0, while Pistol Cowden played 17 minutes in relief to combine for the shutout.

The Falcons go for the series sweep over the Lumberjills tomorrow at 2 p.m.
