ASHLAND, Wis. – The No. 4-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team defeated Northland College 8-0 Saturday afternoon to earn the WIAC series sweep over the Lumberjills.
UWRF extends its winning-streak to 10 games while improving to 17-1 overall and 5-1 during WIAC play.
Seven different Falcons found the back of the net, led by two from freshman
Brooke Lemke, who scored her first collegiate goal last night during the program record-breaking 14-goal performance from the Falcons.
UWRF out-shot Northland 74-15 and scored two power play goals.
The visiting Falcons led 1-0 after the first 20 minutes with a
Kora Torkelson goal, before scoring seven in the next two frames.
Outside of Lemke's two tallies and Torkelson,
Aubrey Nelvin,
Jessica Rubenalt,
Ellie Brice,
Sophia Leong, and
Alyson Niebur scored Falcon goals.
Erin Olson,
Hadley Malcolmson, Torkelson, and Alisen Carothers each had two assists.
Pistol Cowden made 15 saves en route to improving her record to 5-0 with her fourth shutout.
The Falcons next host a non-conference game againt Bethel University on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Hunt Arena.
