RIVER FALLS, Wisconsin – The No. 4 UW-River Falls women's hockey team collected their 20
th win of the season beating UW-Superior 5-1 at Hunt Arena Saturday night.
Senior
Kora Torkelson, put the Falcons on the board first scoring 4:54 into the first period. Her goal came on the power play opportunity after Superior was called for high sticking. UWRF found themselves in a second power play opportunity in the final minutes of the period. After a scramble in the front of the net,
Emma Schmitz fired one past the Yellowjacket tender to increase the lead to 2-0.
The Yellowjackets opened the second period with a power play goal at 6:18 cutting the Falcons lead in half. The Falcons answered back with two goals taking a 4-1 lead. The first was
Emma Schmitz at 8:04 and
Kora Torkelson scored her second goal of the night at 17:47.
Torkelson completed a hat trick in the third period scoring the Falcons fifth and final goal at 7:38.
Sami Miller collected 11 saves in goal for the Falcons. The Falcons outshot the Yellowjackets 49-12.
The Falcons now 20-1 on the season travel to the College of St. Benedict Feb. 8
th. The nonconference matchup is set to start at 7 p.m.
