GLOUCESTER, Mass. – NCAA Division III women's head coaches have recognized the top 25 hockey players in their division by selecting them as CCM Hockey/AHCA All-Americans for 2021-22, announced on Thursday, March 17. The honorees come from 14 different schools, including four from UW-River Falls;
Callie Hoff,
Abigail Stow,
Sami Miller, and
Kora Torkelson.
UW-River Falls tied with Plattsburgh State with the most All-Americans as a team, totaling four each.
Callie Hoff and
Abigail Stow represented UWRF on the First Team West, while
Sami Miller and
Kora Torkelson were selected to the Second Team. Hoff was also named the Laura Hurd Player of hte Year. The senior forward trio of Hoff, Stow, and Torkelson all currently rank inside the top-10 national scoring leaders, and Miller's eight shutouts is second-best in DIII.
The quartet of Falcon seniors led UWRF to a program-record 27 wins along with the WIAC regular season title and O'Brien Cup Championship. The Falcons' season came to an end with their season overall loss of the season, in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.
UWRF's four All-America honors is the most since 2017, in which Dani Sibley, Paige Johnson, Carly Moran, and Angie Hall each garnered All-America nods.
Callie Hoff, a fifth-year senior forward from Hermantown, Minn., led the Falcons with a program single-season record 67 points off 26 goals and 41 assists, earning back-to-back WIAC Player of the Year honors. Now a two-time All-American, she is a five-time All-WIAC member.
Abigail Stow, a senior forward from Eau Claire, Wis., ranks second in NCAA DIII assists behind Hoff with 37 helpers, and totaled 49 points in 27 games played to collect her second career All-American award. An All-WIAC First Team member, Stow scored half of our 12 power play goals on the power play, and was the WIAC Player of the Week (Nov. 1-7).
Sami Miller, an All-WIAC First Team senior goaltender from Blaine, Minn., started in 18 of UWRF's 29 games, compiling a 16-2 record with eight shutouts to go along with her .930 save percentage and 1.45 goals against average. She closed out the regular season with a shutout over No. 5-ranked UW-Eau Claire on Feb. 19 to clinch the WIAC regular season title and earn WIAC Player the Week recognition. The All-American accolade is the first of her career.
Kora Torkelson, a fifth-year senior forward from Thief River Falls, Minn., leads the nation with 10 power play goals, earning her first career All-American honor after breaking out for a career-high 44 points off 12 goals and 37 assists. An All-WIAC First Team member, she was named the WIAC Player of the Week after a hat trick over UW-Superior on Feb. 5.
