LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team defeated UW-La Crosse 24-5 Wednesday evening during the regular season finale.
The Falcons wrap up the regular season schedule with a 15-2 record, and finished with a 4-0 record over University of Wisconsin foes with season sweeps over UW-Eau Claire and UW-La Crosse.
UWRF limited the Eagles to 14 shot attempts while totaling 47, with 31 shots on target. The Falcons also forced 23 UWL turnovers and were 12-of-13 on clear attempts.
A well spread out scoring attack guided the offense, with seven Falcons turning in multi-goal performances.
Emma Heerey and
Grace Hannula led the way with four goals each, while Heerey also tallied a game-high three assists for a career-high total of seven points.
Holly Eckers,
Emma Kohlbeck, and
Cassandra Hubble each added three goals.
10 minutes into the game, UWRF led 5-0, and led 12-2 at halftime, giving plenty cushion to cruise to victory.
In net,
Ashley Olson made her 10th consecutive start, and collected five saves en route to to the win, improving her record to 13-2.
The Falcons, currently ranked eighth in NCAA Division III Region VII, will hope for at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA women's lacrosse selection show is scheduled for Monday, May 9 at 9:30 a.m. on
