MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's basketball team opened the calendar year with a 77-67 win at UW-Stout Wednesday evening.
Logan Jedwabny led the Falcons with a season-high 30 points, shooting 11-of-18 from the field and 6-of-10 from beyond the arc.
UWRF held a 40-28 edge in rebounds, led by eight from
Rodrick Payne. The Falcons drew 16 fouls and were strong at the charity stripe, making a season-high 22-of-26. Payne made 5-of-6 while
Dylan Parker and
Mason Anderson were both 4-for-4.
Jedwabny had 18 first-half points, leading the Falcons to a 43-34 halftime lead as UWRF shot 15-of-27. The Falcons led by as many as 16 with a pair of
Will Van Scoy free throws with 6:46 on the clock.
Stout came within six down the stretch, but successful Falcon free throws sealed the win.
Jack Leifker tallied a career-high 13 points, while Parker had a team-high four assists.
The Falcons (7-7, 1-2 WIAC) remain on the road to face No. 19-ranked UW-Oshkosh on Saturday.
