RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The UW-River Falls men's basketball team won a nonconference matchup against Viterbo University Saturday at Page Arena, winning 78-65.
With their second win on the week, UWRF improves to 3-4 overall.
Along with their season-high 78 points, the Falcons shot a season-best 49 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc. UWRF also held a 37-25 edge in rebounds and led 12-3 in second-chance points.
Four of five Falcon starters scored in double figures, led by 17 points each from
Logan Jedwabny and
Noah Hanson.
Zac Johnson and
Jack Leifker added 16 and 10 points, respectively, while
Marshall Holland brought in a season-high 12 rebounds, including seven on offense. Johnson and Holland both had four assists.
UWRF was locked in defensively to open the game, limiting the V-Hawks to just two points over five minutes in. The Falcons led by as many as 16 in the first half after a Holland free throw gave UWRF a 28-12 lead with 7:46 left in the half. Jedwabny shot 4-of-5 from long range in the first half, and the home team led 38-28 at the intermission.
Viterbo was held to under 40 percent shooting in the second half while UWRF shot over 50 percent along with 12 made free throws, with led to a season-high 18 made free throws. Hanson led the Falcons with a 6-for-6 mark at the charity stripe.
The Falcons remain at home next Tuesday, hosting St. Olaf College.
