Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Pioneers' hot shooting too much for Falcons

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's basketball team fell 84-50 Saturday afternoon to UW-Platteville at Page Arena.

Despite an even start to the contest, the visiting Pioneers began to run away with the game late in the first half and didn't look back, outplaying the Falcons for the majority of the game. The WIAC's leading scorer Logan Pearson stood out, scoring 32 points off 10-of-13 shooting from the field.

Platteville out-rebounded River Falls 36-21 and shot 54.9 percent from the field. They also drew 19 fouls and made the Falcons pay, going 20-for-24 at the free throw line.

Back-to-back Jacob Butler three-pointers tied the game at 10-10 six minutes into regulation, but 12 minutes later the Pioneers established a double-digit lead, in which they maintained for the rest of the game.

Rodrick Payne led the Falcons with 12 points.

UWRF (11-13, 5-8 WIAC) closes out the regular season next Wednesday, Feb. 15 at UW-La Crosse.
