Men's Hoops wins on the road at UWSP

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The UW-River Falls men's basketball team earned a 72-56 road win at UW-Stevens Point Wednesday evening.

With their third win in a row, UWRF improves to 4-1 in the WIAC and 10-6 overall.

While both teams shot under 40 percent from the field, UWRF was solid at the free throw line making 18-of-21 and forcing 20 Pointer turnovers which led to 16 UWRF points. Additionally, the Falcons led 36-18 in the paint, 16-5 in fast break points, and held 44-35 edge on the glass.

Jack Leifker led UWRF with 20 points and shared the team-lead with nine rebounds along with Marshall Holland. Zac Johnson trailed with 14 points along with a season-high five assists. 

UWSP led by seven points early on before UWRF put together a 10-3 run capped off by a Leifker layup to give the Falcons a 21-14 advantage with under six minutes left in the first half. From then on, the Falcons led for the rest of regulation. UWRF led by as many as 19 after a Garret Honstrom layup late in the game.

Along with Holland's nine rebounds, he added 11 points, two blocks, two assists, and three assists.

The Falcons return to Page Arena to host No. 18-ranked UW-Whitewater on Saturday.
