Falcons come up short against No. 18 Warhawks

RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The UW-River Falls men's basketball team fell 75-74 Saturday afternoon at Page Arena against No. 18-ranked UW-Whitewater.

The Falcons' three-game win streak comes to an end while their overall record dips to 10-7 and 4-2 in the WIAC.

UWRF shot 47.6 percent from the field and 47.8 percent from beyond the arc while the visiting Warhawks shot over 50 percent from the field and led 32-26 in rebounds. UWRF forced 12 Warhawk turnovers, which turned into 14 Falcon points.

In the first half, the Falcons shot 13-of-30 and were outscored 37-32. The Falcons and Warhawks exchanged a couple leads early on before UWW gained a four-point advantage near the 12-minute mark and led for the rest of the half.

The Falcons outscored the Warhawks 42-48 in the final 20 minutes and trailed by as many as 15 near the midway point of the half but didn't quit, rallying to trim the Warhawk lead to just one afer a pair of good baskets from Noah Hanson and Logan Jedwabny with under a minute left in regulation. The Falcons had a possession to potentially take the lead, but missed a last-second shot.

Zac Johnson and Hanson shared the team lead in scoring with 19 points each, including a season-high six assists for Johnson. Marshall Holland had a team-high seven rebounds.

Next week, UWRF faces UW-Stout and UW-Stevens Point.
