MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's basketball team earned an 85-77 road win Wednesday evening at UW-Stout.
The Falcons, now 11-7 overall and 5-2 in the WIAC, shot over 50 percent from the field and from beyond the arc, along with a 38-34 edge on the glass.
UWRF was led by
Jack Leifker's career-high 29 points, shooting 12-of-17 from the field. He missed just a pair of field goals in the first half with 19 points, leading UWRF to a 46-36 halftime lead.
The Falcons and Blue Devils swapped eight lead changes in the first 20 minutes. With under six minutes left in the first half, UWRF put together a 14-9 run to claim its 10-point halftime lead, and held on to its advantage for the rest of the game.
UWRF led by as many as 15 four and a half minutes into the second half as a
Logan Jedwabny triple gave UWRF a 58-43 lead, but the Blue Devils fought back with a 16-3 run in the next eight minutes to trim the Falcon lead to just 61-59.
Noah Hanson answered with another made triple for the Falcons and the visitors led by at least five for the rest of the way.
Along with Leifker's career-high point total, four of five Falcons scored in double figures. Jedwabny scored 19, followed by
Zac Johnson's 13 and 12 from Hanson. The trio of Jedwabny, Johnson, and Hanson each made three triples. Leifker and
Logan Benson shared the team-lead with seven rebounds each.
The Falcons return to Page Arena this Saturday to host UW-Stevens Point during Alumni Day.
