LA CROSSE, Wis. - The UW-River Falls men's and women's track & field teams opened the calendar year competing at the Pat Healy Classic on Saturday, hosted by UW-La Crosse.
The men compiled 39 team points to finish third of five teams, while the women tied for fifth with 15 team points.
The UWRF men were led by its crew of jumpers.Â
Yaih Marial led the way, collecting eight team points with a runner-up high jump of 2.00 meters (6 feet, 6.75 inches).
In the men's long jump,
Isaiah O'Connor and
Charlie Theis combined for eight team points. O'Connor took third with a 6.74 meter leap, trailed by Theis' 6.35 meter jump.Â
Joe Stauffer led UWRF in the pole vault with a fourth place finish of 19 vaulters with a mark of 4.60m (15-1).Â
Additionally,
Brady Sindelir took fourth in the shot put with a 13.97m throw, and
Logan Munson took fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.08.
Cailyn Kuechle led the Falcon women, contributing eight team points with a personal record 800-meter run time of 2:19.12, good for second place among 12 runners. Her time also stands as the 4th fastest in UWRF indoor history.
Katie Haase led the Falcon throwers with a 13.93m weight throw, placing sixth of 20 throwers.Â
UWRF returns to action next weekend at the University of Minnesota's Jack Johnson Classic.
