No. 10 Falcons return home to face Blue Devils

The No. 10/11-ranked UWRF football team hosts UW-Stout this Saturday, Oct. 19. The Falcons will be wearing pink in support of breast cancer awareness.

AGAINST THE BLUE DEVILS
  • Saturday's matchup marks the 109th all-time meeting between the Falcons and Blue Devils with UW-River Falls holding a 72-36 series advantage.
    Last season, UWRF defeated UW-Stout 49-35 in Menomonie, Wis., led by Kaleb Blaha's program record six rushing touchdowns.
IN THE RANKINGS
  • UWRF dropped from No. 4 to No. 10 in this week's D3football.com top 25 poll, and No. 5 to No. 11 in the AFCA Coaches' Poll.
    • Last week's No. 4 ranking tied UWRF's highest in program history. They were also ranked as high as No. 4 last season after opening the year with a 5-0 record.
  • UWRF was tabbed to finish third in the 2024 WIAC Preseason Poll. UW-La Crosse, the defending league co-champions, has been picked to capture the 2024 WIAC Championship.
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Falcons suffered their first loss of the season last Saturday at nationally ranked UW-Platteville, falling 28-7.
    • Ben Wesolowski, who started the game at wide receiver before leading the Falcons at quarterback in replace of the injured Kaleb Blaha and Cade Fitzgerald, led UWRF with 136 passing yards, 54 rushing yards, and 59 receiving yards.
    • Gage Timm led the defense with 12 tackles, including three tackles for loss and two sacks.
FALCON NOTES
  • UWRF is ranked fifth in Division III with 143 first downs and is tied for eighth with 50.6 points per game.
  • Junior linebacker Gage Timm is tied for the WIAC lead with 42 total tackles. He had 20 tackles at Alma College on Sept. 7 and was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.
  • Quarterback Cade Fitzgerald and running back Michael Krueger each have six touchdowns, sharing the WIAC lead in scoring.
  • Three Falcons are ranked on the top 10 in the WIAC in tackles for loss, with Gage Timm, Jack Olson, and Ian Gould combining for 16 tackles for loss.
  • Senior defensive back Aaron Borgerding was named a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation's Campbell Trophy, an award that recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.
