MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls volleyball team fell 3-2 at UW-Stout Wednesday evening.
The Falcons and Blue Devils went back and forth, trading sets one through four until the home team prevailed in the fifth, 15-12.
UWRF had a .151 hitting percentage compared to Stout's .197 while leading in kills, 66-55.
Lauren Noth led the way with 16 kills while
Olivia Gustafsson had 30 assists and
Audrey Petersen had 26 digs.
After dropping the first set 25-20, the Falcons answered by totaling a match-high 17 kills in the second frame. Tied at 22 apiece, the Falcons tallied three-straight points including a pair of kills from
Grace McDole to win the set 25-22, tying the match at 1-1.
The Blue Devils took the third set 26-24 and UWRF again responded, winning set four 25-22. The fourth set featured UWRF's strongest attacking percentage at .238 while they forced six Blue Devil errors to force a fifth frame.
UWRF, now 9-15 overall and 1-3 in the WIAC, will travel to Saint Peter, Minn., this Saturday to compete against Gustavus and Luther in the Gustavus Adolphus College Triangular.
