NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The UW-River Falls cross country program competed at the 2024 NCAA North Regional Championships on Nov. 16 in Northfield, Minn.
The Falcons placed 13th on the women's side with 414 points, while the men's team 22nd with 607 points. UWRF improved six spots in the women's 6k rankings from last season, the best team finish since 2018. The men's team improved three spots in the team standings from last season.
Sophomore Laina Viere led the way for UWRF, placing 46th in the women's 6k with a time of 23:22.2. Freshman Adison Wilde was the Falcons' next finisher, clocking in at 23:36.9 to place 57th.
Emma Karnitz (93rd/24:31.3), Peyton Opsahl (105th/24:46.8), and Jaidyn McAlpine (117th/24:55.3) rounded out UW-River Falls' top-five placers in the women's 6k.
On the men's side, junior Logan Munson was UWRF's top finisher with a time of 26:43.4, placing 98th. Freshman Jack Richter was the Falcons' next finisher at 115th with a time of 27:04.3.
Wyatt Johnson (122nd/27:17.1), Ryan Pierson (129th/27:29.5), and Myles Rasmussen (145th/27:50.9) finished as UWRF's top-five point scorers. Rasmussen's finish is a personal best.
