OSHKOSH, Wis. - The UW-River Falls men's basketball team defeated UW-Oshkosh 88-78 Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Falcons (13-10, 7-5 WIAC) earn the season series sweep over the WIAC defending regular season champion Titans.Â
UWRF had a season-high point total with a season-high 34 made field goals and 18 assists, led by four of five Falcon starters scoring in double figures.
Zac Johnson led the way with a double-double off 20 points and a career-high 10 assists.
Jack Leifker followed with 16 points, along with 12 from
Noah Hanson and 11 from
Marshall Holland.
The Falcons shot efficiently in the first half, shooting over 50 percent from the field and 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. UWRF took control near the back-end of the half, outscoring the home team 19-8 in the final eight minutes to lead 45-34. The Falcons led by as many as 14 after a Leifker layup with under a minute left in the half.
In the second half, UWRF's shooting numbers dropped despite going 9-for-11 at the charity stripe. UWO outscored the Falcons 44-43 in the final 20 minutes but were unable to break UWRF's lead, as the visitors led by single-digits only on a few ocassions in the second half.
The Falcons host UW-Stout next Wednesday during Senior Night at Page Arena.
