VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The UW-River Falls track & field team closed out its 2023-24 indoor season on Friday, March 8, represented by the duo of
Jacob Balcome and
Annika Gunderson at the NCAA Indoor Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
Annika Gunderson, a sophomore making her second career NCAA Indoor Championship appearance, finished tied for 14th of 19 individuals in the women's pole vault, clearing 3.47 meters (11 feet, 4.5 inches).
Jacob Balcome made his debut at the NCAA indoors competing in the men's heptathlon. While Balcome opened day one competing in the 60-meter dash, long jump, and shot put, his appearance at the national stage was cut short due to injury, receiving a DNF (did not finish). His top score came in the 60m, clocking a time of 7.32 to earn 772 points.
The Falcons open the outdoor season on April 13 at UW-La Crosse.
