LA CROSSE, Wis. – UW-River Falls sophomore Lauryn Schutz closed out the Falcons season Saturday afternoon at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, earning USTFCCCA Second-Team All-American honors in the women's hammer throw.
Schutz placed 15th overall nationally with a toss of 52.27m against the top hammer throw athletes in Division III. Finishing inside the top-16 nationally, Schutz secured Second-Team All-American recognition for the Falcons.
The national championship appearance capped off an exceptional outdoor season for Schutz. Earlier this spring, she broke the UW-River Falls program record in the hammer throw with a mark of 53.55m at the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier. She also earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors following the outdoor season.
Schutz's performance wrapped up competition for the Falcons at the NCAA Outdoor Championships after UW-River Falls saw Annika Gunderson and Schutz earn All-American honors while Jacob Balcome finished national runner-up in the decathlon.
