WINONA, Minn. - The UW-River Falls men's and women's track & field teams competed in its first outdoor meet as a full team on Saturday at the Saint Mary's Cardinal Invitational.
The men and women combined for 14 first place finishes, eight for the men and six for the women.
Dylan Wachter,
Yaih Marial, and
Joel Alexander shined for the Falcon men, among others. In the 800-meter run, Wachter and teammate
Logan Munson finished first and second, both clocking UWRF top-10 times at 1:55.80 and 1:56.28.
Marial's 2.00-meter high jump was the second highest of his career, a top 10 UWRF time, and ranks among the top-25 in Division III outdoor this spring.
Alexander won both the pole vault (4.20m) and triple jump (12.92m).
The Falcon women were headlined by a pair of top finishes from
Lexi LeFever and a top-10 UWRF mark from
Katie Haase in the discus throw.
LeFever won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.37, good to rank among the top-50 in DIII. She also placed first in the long jump at 5.20-meters, top-75 in DIII.
Haase won the discus throw with a personal best 39.87-meter throw, a top-10 UWRF mark and top-25 in DIII.
The Falcons return to action next Saturday, competing at Concordia-St. Paul's Holst Invitational.
