After over 90 matches and 10 weeks of play this spring, UWRF Esports has secured its 2nd & 3rd championships in program history. However, the run is not over. Both our League of Legends and Overwatch 2 rosters are in the midst of national championship runs in their National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) divisions.

To kick off April, the Valorant Falcons picked up a quality win over Colorado School of Mines in their National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) Varsity Plus playoffs. Senior
Morgan Lee's outstanding performance netted him Falcon of the Week honors as he put up 52 eliminations, 23 deaths, and 14 assists in their 2-0 sweep. Unfortunately, the Falcons came up short in a 1-2 defeat against University of Central Oklahoma ending their NACE playoff run. Similarly, the Rainbow 6 Siege squad fell in the 2nd round of their playoffs in MidwestR6 against a capable Lindenwood team. Both finishes are the high marks in those respective leagues for those teams.
In Smash Ultimate, the Falcons finished off their perfect NACE season with a 2-1 victory over Butler University in an intense Divisional finals that pushed the Falcons to their last stock on anchor sophomore
Riley Bresette. Riley proceed to go on a tear once he entered, taking the Bulldog's final 6 stocks to secure the flawless 9-0 spring season and a cumulative 16-1 season across NACE & NECC. Bresette's 14 total stocks taken earned him Falcon of the Week honors in addition to his first NACE championship.
The League of Legends roster flipped the switch in playoffs going 7-0 in game score in their series against Bellevue University, University of Nebraska Omaha, and Southwest Minnesota State University to earn their first NECC Conference Championship. The finals against SMSU was a rematch of a close 2-1 series in the regular season, and game 1 was a near beat-for-beat repeat of that encounter. After going down in the early game and giving up 4 straight drakes for a Chemtech soul, the Falcons turned the game on its head with a teamfight win at Elder Drake that led to a quick Baron and game ending push. UWRF closed out the series with a much more decisive game 2 victory and automatically qualified for NECC Nationals in the Navigators Division. They won their Round of 16 match last Wednesday against Eastern University in another 2-0 sweep and are poised to take on Midway University this Wednesday in the national quarterfinals.
Joining the League of Legends team in an NECC Nationals run is the Overwatch 2 team that placed 2nd in their conference in Fall. They play the University of Nebraska Kearney this Tuesday in the Round of 16 to determine who will play Oklahoma City University in quarterfinals.
