ST. PAUL, Minn. - The UW-River Falls men's and women's track & field teams took part in the Janis Rider/Doug Bolstorff Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Macalester College.
The meet served as the Falcons' final tune-up before next weekend's WIAC Outdoor Championships, set to take place May 3-4 at UW-Platteville.
The Falcons combined for six first place finishes. The men took first place ahead of Bethel and Macalester with 124 team points while the women collected 86 to finish third. Saint Benedict took first on the women's side with 160 points.
On the men's side,
Dylan Wachter,
Matt Boche,
Yaih Marial, and
Joe Stauffer earned top finishes.
Wachter shine with a personal record in the 800-meter run, clocking the third-best time in UWRF outdoor history at 1:53.10, taking first place.
Boche won the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 58.41 while Marial also had a season-best in the high jump at 2.05 meters, a UWRF top 10 mark. Stauffer won the pole vault with a season-best mark of 4.60 meters, top-five in UWRF outdoor history.
Annika Gunderson and
Katie Haase led the Falcon women with first place finishes and UWRF top 10 marks. Gunderson won the pole vault at 3.65 meters and Haase in the discus throw at 40.81 meters.
Additionally,
Megan Halbach set a PR and went 2:22.12 to crack the top 10 list and take third in the 800-meter run, among many other Falcon personal records.
