No. 12 Falcons travel to face Pointers

The No. 12-ranked UW-River Falls football team hits the road to face UW-Stevens Point this Saturday, Oct. 18.

THE SERIES
  • Saturday's game marks the 92nd all-time meeting between UW-River Falls and UW-Stevens Point, with the Falcons holding a 50-38-3.
  • The Falcons are winners of four consecutive matchups over the Pointers, including a 45-17 win last season in River Falls.

LAST TIME OUT
  • UWRF is coming off a 31-21 win over No. 6-ranked UW-Platteville during Homecoming at Ramer Field on Oct. 11. The Falcons bounced back from a tough road loss at UW-Oshkosh in the conference opener with a season-high 476 passing yards while forcing four Pioneer turnovers.
    • Senior quarterback Kaleb Blaha, who in last game broke the UWRF program record for all-time passing yards, followed up with a single-game career-high with 443 passing yards while adding a rushing score as the Falcons racked up 631 yards of total offense.
    • Junior wide receiver Blake Rohrer also had a career day, highlighting the offense with a career-high 167 receiving yards including an 84-yard touchdown on the game's very first play to set the tone for the Falcons.
    • The Falcons' defense forced four turnovers on the day, including three interceptions (two from Andre Hall, one from Peter Ladu) along with three sacks and a fumble recovery.
FALCON NOTES
  • UWRF maintains the top offense NCAA Division III with an average of 591.2 yards of total offense per game with the most first downs (165).
    • In addition, the Falcons ranks sixth with 360.4 passing yards per game and rank 12th with 43.4 points per game. 
  • After collecting a pair of interceptions during the win over UW-Platteville, junior defensive back Andre Hall was selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week.
  • Fifth-year senior quarterback Kaleb Blaha, a D3football.com Preseason First Team All-American, was named the WIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season after totaling a career-high 443 passing yards versus UW-Platteville.
    • Against Coe College, Blaha broke his own program record with 569 yards of total offense. 
    • At UW-Oshkosh, Blaha became the UWRF all-time leader with over 7,200 career passing yards.
    • Blaha is the DIII leader with 439.6 yards of total offense per game, and leads the WIAC in completions per game (29), passing touchdowns (11), passing yards per game (338.4), rushing yards (506), and more.
  • Wide receiver Austin Rush leads the WIAC with 32 receptions, while Blake Rohrer's 361 receiving yards ranks third.
  • Justin Scheberl's 29 made PATs leads the WIAC.
  • Defensively, senior linebacker Gage Timm leads the Falcons and ranks 10th in the WIAC with 35 total tackles.
    • Peter Ladu shares the WIAC lead with three interceptions.
    • Noah Nusbaum ranks fifth in the league with five tackles for loss.
