MENOMONIE, Wis. - The UW–River Falls men's soccer team wrapped up their second regular season against UW-Stout, ending in a 1-1 draw. The Falcons finish the regular season 3-9-4 overall and 0-3-2 in WIAC play, earning a point in their final conference outing of the year.
After trailing 1–0 at halftime, freshman midfielder Josh Villanueva netted the equalizer in the 70th minute off an assist from Victor Vancauteren, marking his third goal of the season.
UWRF controlled much of the second half, outshooting the Blue Devils 13–8 and holding a 9–1 advantage in corner kicks. Danny Acevedo lead the Falcons with four shots, one on goal while Villanueva added an additional three shots for the Falcon offense.
Goalkeepers Josh Bates and Jaden Mendias split time in goal, combining for three saves as the Falcon back line limited the Blue Devils to just two shots over the final 45 minutes.
In their second season as a program, the Falcons continued to show growth and composure within WIAC play and will now turn their focus to the upcoming WIAC Tournament where they'll face the Pioneers in Platteville on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
