No. 1 Falcons Blank Pointers 5-0 in WIAC Opener

STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The No. 1-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team opened its 2025-26 WIAC schedule on Friday evening with a 5-0 shutout victory at UW-Stevens Point.

UWRF improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the WIAC, led by five different goal scorers and a 22-save shutout from goaltender Jordan O'Kane - her second of the season and the eighth of her career.

Katherine Bell opened the scoring late in the first period, redirecting a shot from the point from Kennedi Bielenberg-Howarth at 16:35. The Falcons carried the momentum into the second period, where Megan Goodreau doubled the lead on the power play with nifty feeds from Kylie Jones and Sophia Hess as UWRF maintained control entering the final frame with a 2-0 lead.

Jones pushed the lead to 3-0 early in the third period with another power play goal, crashing the net for her first of the season. From there, the Falcons closed out the game strong with another two goals in the final minutes from Madison Kadrlik and Gracyn Knowles.

UWRF went 2-for-3 on the power play and held UWSP scoreless on one chance. The Falcons had 72 shots on goal, led by 11 from Goodreau and nine each from Brooklyn Riley and MaKenna Aure.

The Falcons continue WIAC play at UW-Eau Claire on Saturday, Nov. 22.
