Viere Qualifies for NCAA Cross Country Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The NCAA Division III Committee has announced the participants for the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship on Sunday, Nov. 16, featuring Laina Viere from UW-River Falls.

In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals had to qualify in their respective NCAA regional competitions held this weekend.

Viere qualified as one of 70 individuals. The first seven student-athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team, were selected to participate in each championship. At the NCAA DIII North Regional Championships yesterday in Colfax, Wis., Viere finished 17th of 207 runners with a 6k time of 22:31.6 to earn All-Region honors for the second time in her career.

She becomes the first Falcon to qualify for the NCAA national meet since Linsey Tolkkinen in 2018. She followed Abby Fouts in 2017, Tia Harris in 2013, and before her it was UWRF Hall of Famer and three-time All-American Becca Jordahl (2006-08).

Converse University and OneSpartanburg, Inc. are hosting the championships on Saturday, Nov. 22 at Roger Milliken Cross Country course at the Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The women's race will begin at 11 a.m. eastern time.

A live webstream of the championships will occur on NCAA.com.
